Proton Saga FLX - MALAYSIA

Proton has recently launched new Saga FLX which use of continuously variable transmission (CTV) technology. The launch followed the company’s announcement earlier in June declaring the successful development and integration of CVT technology with its CamPro engine.

The car will deliver a fuel consumption drop of four per cent in urban driving environment and 10 per cent on highways with the use of its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) technology.

The upgraded version uses a belt system to transform torque to power, making gearshifts smoother and reduces oil consumption to ensure a smoother driving experience.

Proton vehicle testing practicability department manager, Halid Deni, said the company has compared the car with the previous model (Saga FL), and found that it was more economical and based on the data, the improvement was around six per cent.

The new model is also equipped with a stepped automatic transmission (SAT) — only for automatic variant — which gives the gearshift sensation of a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

The previous model’s automatic variant was only equipped with a standard four-speed transmission while both models still use the same engine capacity of 1.3 litres.

On top of the CVT, Proton has also improvised the security features by installing the gear lock, a missing feature in the previous model.

The Saga FLX, comes with on-the-road price from RM38,598 (manual) to RM44,998 (automatic) in Peninsular Malaysia and from RM41,378 (manual) to RM47,798 (automatic) in Sabah and Sarawak. - BLOG E KERETA
